Speak (or learn) the local language.

English is widely spoken in CH and there are plenty of expats in Switzerland who have been there 30 or more years with little to no French (or German).

However, it is EXTREMELY important to be able to speak the local language, even for silly things like paying bills and going to the grocery shop. Don't underestimate how much language can help you.

Customs are up for grabs. You need to know a minimum in order to function, but you don’t need to eat fondue every night to blend in with the Swiss. To blend in with the locals, just learn the cultural norms.
